Robin Koch makes Leeds United captaincy admission as his agent in talks over new deal
Robin Koch has confirmed that his agent is in talks with Leeds United over an extension on his current deal at Elland Road.
The German defender claims that initial talks are ongoing but he is not likely to make a decision until the end of the season.
His current contract runs out at the end of the 2024 season, meaning this transfer window will be the last summer where Leeds can get something from his sale in case he doesn’t extend.

In an interview with Spox, Koch said, “During the season I want to distract myself as little as possible with future planning. Initial talks are currently underway between the club and my advisor. Towards the end of the season and during the summer break I will deal with it. Now my focus is 100 percent on our games and goals.
When asked about potentially being the captain, he responded, “Why not? Yes. But even without an armband, I want to be a leader in the team and also set a good example off the pitch.”
Hinges on relegation
No Leeds player is going to commit his future to the club just yet without the assurance of Premier League football next season.
Koch is a full Germany international and the next step in his career is to play in the Champions League and perhaps at a club challenging for a top-flight title.
He’s happy at Leeds and is not angling for a move but that could all change if he’s told to play in the Championship next season.
We’re hoping that he stays on even if Leeds manage to avoid the drop as he’s undoubtedly one of the best players at the club.

However, that means that he’s going to be subject to interest from other sides that could offer him more money and the chance to play in Europe.
The fact that his agent is in talks means he’s open to staying but big money could tempt him to leave for pastures anew.
