Robbie Savage urges Leeds United to sign new striker as Patrick Bamford not good enough
Robbie Savage has blasted Leeds for being “poor” in their 1-1 draw with Leicester and believes they need to sign a new striker if they stay in the Premier League.
The Whites were largely outplayed by the visitors on Tuesday night (25 April) but earned a vital point in the battle against relegation, moving them two points above the drop zone with five games remaining.
But speaking at full-time live on BT Sport (25 April, 21:58), Savage said Leeds were “poor” throughout the game and urged them to find a new striker after hinting that Patrick Bamford wasn’t good enough.

“I thought Leeds were poor. I think Leeds in forward areas are poor,” he said.
“I’ve got two strikers here in Jermaine and Michael [Beckford and Owen].
“Bamford tries and he’s had a fantastic career but I just think in the Premier League, Leeds need to get a 20 goal per season striker. Where are they? It’s hard to find.”
Same issues
It’s the same issues year on year right now, no matter who we sign in the transfer windows or who is the manager of the team.
Bamford had an amazing season in his first year back in the top flight, but since then he has been a shadow of himself after suffering with numerous injuries and several different stints out of the team.

Leeds tried to address the issue but couldn’t get any signings over the line and ultimately settled for Wilfried Gnonto and Georginio Rutter despite them not being natural nines, and Javi Gracia doesn’t seem to be a huge fan of either player.
But with a severe lack of goals in the side and a poor defence, it’s no wonder at all that the club are in the position they’re in and Savage is right that things must change.
How much they change depend on us staying in the Premier League though, and that has to be the priority.
The best way to change the results is to make changes, and until Gracia starts doing that we’re essentially relying on others around us faltering.
In other Leeds news, Michael Owen and Jermaine Beckford were in agreement about one “strange” decision from the draw v Leicester.
