Robbie Savage shares real problem at Leeds United after ‘carnage’ at Elland Road

Robbie Savage has suggested the “disarray” at Leeds United is the real problem which has led to their 2022/23 season falling into turmoil.

Sam Allardyce is Leeds’ third manager of the campaign after the board decided to part ways with Javi Gracia after a number of heavy defeats.

Writing in his latest column for the Daily Mirror, Savage has described the Whites’ season as “carnage”

“Leeds’ real problem is the disarray which led to them sending up a distress flare for Allardyce in the first place,” wrote Savage (Daily Mirror, pg 69, 6 May).

“Three managers in a season – Jesse Marsch, Javi Gracia and now Sam – is never a healthy sign.

“If I had to describe Leeds’ season in a single word, I think carnage just about covers it.”

Not wrong

Savage isn’t wrong. Leeds’ campaign has been complete carnage. But at this point, the board may as well roll with the chaos. Allardyce is probably the Whites’ best bet when it comes to avoiding relegation. He’s been there and done it before. He knows what it takes and it’s about ensuring the players show some grit and determination in their remaining fixtures.

The trip to Manchester City will be a right off in the eyes of many, however, due to Leeds’ league status, they cannot afford to drop points. Staying in the game as long as possible agaisnt Pep Guadiola’s side will be vital. West Ham had some success in the first half on Wednesday evening. In fact, the Hammers allowed City to run away with the game after a lapse from a set-piece.

Sitting deep, crowding the midfield and remaining disciplined have to be the bedrocks of the Whites’ performance at the Etihad. With Newcastle, West Ham and Tottenham to come, it’s going to take something special for Leeds to pull themselves out of their current demise.

In other Leeds United news, one source has shared what Big Sam has done at the club, which is something that has been seen for a while.
