Robbie Savage has been awestruck by the “Magnificent” performances of Leeds United forward Patrick Bamford this season.
The 27-year-old has scored 11 goals in the Premier League and has fired himself into international contention with England.
Savage ranked Bamford among the likes of Bruno Fernandes and Jack Grealish in his standout performers in the first half of the season.
Speaking on William Hill with Emma Jones on Twitter, Savage mentioned Bamford in the conversation for the Premier League Player of the Year award.
“I think there’s been some outstanding performances,” he said.
‘Patrick Bamford has been wonderful. Never really had the opportunity on a consistent basis in the Premier League, his first consistent season – he’s been magnificent.”
We are running out of words to describe Bamford and his form.
The transformation has been excellent since last season, in what was a very frustrating year where he missed plenty of chances – that is a distant memory.
Bamford’s 11 goals are only bettered by five others, but his five assists are more than the likes of Mohamed Salah and Dominic Calvert-Lewin combined.
With the England squad coming up in March, Gareth Southgate has been at Leeds’ last two games, surely with a close eye on the striker – who has a better shot accuracy than Harry Kane.
Savage is right to laud Bamford, and who knows how this magnificent season might end for the striker, who is outperforming everyone’s expectations.
