Robbie Keane joins Sam Allardyce and Karl Robinson backroom staff at Leeds United, contracts signed
Sam Allardyce has signed his contract as Leeds United manager in the last hour, and will be joined by former striker Robbie Keane on his staff.
The Whites have sacked Javi Gracia and hired the experienced former England boss as his replacement for the rest of the season as they look to fight off relegation.
But after long-time assistant Sammy Lee was unavailable to join his staff due to jury duty, Allardyce has brought in former Whites forward Keane as part of his staff according to The Times (3 May).
“Robbie Keane joining Sam Allardyce and Karl Robinson at Leeds United,” journalist Matt Lawton wrote on his personal Twitter account (3 May).
Experience
The situation is going to be very tough for Allardyce and Robinson to navigate with four extremely difficult fixtures remaining.
But by bringing in Keane it could help the forwards find that killer touch that they need to fire us away from the drop zone, and also help unite the fans a little bit more.

The fans need a reason to get behind the new management because there are big question marks about whether Allardyce is the right man for the role considering he hasn’t been at a club in two years.
The last time he was brought in at a club was to avoid relegation and he failed with Wes Brom, and with games against Man City, Newcastle, Tottenham and West Ham remaining it’s going to be very hard.
Fans need to get behind the players and new management for the final four games as they need all the help they can get right now, and we can revisit the issues in the summer when we have our Premier League status secured.
