Robbie Gotts sends video message to Leeds United fans after Barrow online polls hijacked

Robbie Gotts has sent his gratitude to Leeds United fans after their recent hijacking of the Barrow Man of the Match awards.

The League Two club have been conducting polls online for the club’s supporters to vote their star player after every game, but a recent trend has started to emerge.

Gotts, 21, joined Barrow on a permanent deal from Leeds last month, but his former side’s fans have not forgotten about him as he racked up almost 90% of the 9,400 votes that were cast after their 3-0 win over Oldham Athletic on September 4 [Leeds Live].

Barrow released a video on their Twitter page on Thursday [23/09/21] afternoon, writing that “Robbie Gotts has a special message for the Leeds United fans”.

In the video, Gotts said: “Cheers to all the Leeds fans for all of the Man of the Matches.

“Hopefully you can all help the Bluebirds out by putting a pound in towards the Russ Raffle to help the community.”

Never forgotten

Leeds fans never forget one of their own.

The Harrogate-born midfielder rose through the youth ranks at Leeds before making his first-team debut in the FA Cup against Arsenal in 2020.

Gotts won the Academy Player of the Year award at the end of the 2019/20 campaign, too.

In total, he made three Leeds appearances before he was allowed to depart for Barrow on August deadline day.

He remains in the minds of Whites, however, who have shown their vociferous support for him online.

It’s something that has seemingly become commonplace, with Kalvin Phillips recently attributing his England Player of the Year award to Leeds supporters.

In other Leeds United news, our predicted XI against West Ham includes a start for this Under-23s ace, while a big-money man has been dropped.
