Rob Price informs Javi Gracia of Jack Harrison injury news in Leeds United 4-1 defeat v Bournemouth

Leeds United head of medical Rob Price informed Javi Gracia that Jack Harrison had picked up a back spasm early in the second half against Bournemouth at the Vitality Stadium on Sunday [30 April].

In a must-win game for the Whites in their quest to secure their Premier League status for next season, Gracia’s men went in at half-time 2-1 down after a Jefferson Lerma double-handed by an Illan Meslier error for the second goal.

But soon after the second-half restart, Leeds United had cause for more concern when Harrison went down injured for which Price informed Gracia that their key man had suffered a back spasm but continued on playing.

Yorkshire Evening Post journalist Graham Smyth was at the Vitality Stadium and took to his personal Twitter account [30 April] to report what Price had informed Gracia on the touchline.

He tweeted: “Rob Price has just told Javi Gracia it’s a back spasm. 2-1”

Hope

Leeds United fans will be absolutely thrilled that Harrison was able to continue on for the rest of the game, despite the defeat. However, that optimism may well be short-lived when the winger is assessed after the game.

Gracia will be desperately hoping one of his most important figures remains fit for the upcoming weeks because their Premier League status hinges on these next few weeks.

In fact, Harrison has enjoyed a renaissance since Gracia’s appointment in February, registering three goals and three assists in that period but the club simply cannot afford to have him out injured right not given his major influence in the attacking third and in his defending.

The former Manchester City star’s endeavour, aggression and quality when creating chances are incredibly vital to the Leeds United camp even when things aren’t going his way. Let’s hope the 26-year-old maestro is okay to continue on for the remaining weeks as he remains the club’s best hope of Premier League survival.
