Rob Green slams Jack Harrison after costly miss in Leeds United draw v Leicester City
Rob Green slammed Jack Harrison after the Leeds United winger missed a golden opportunity to score a winner against Leicester City on Sunday.
With the scores level at 1-1 at Elland Road, 24-year-old Harrison managed to knee the ball over the crossbar when he was left unmarked in front of an open goal at a corner.
Kalvin Phillips’ header found Harrison alone at the back post but the former Manchester City winger completely messed up the chance, leading to criticism from Sky Sports pundit Rob Green.
“What a chance – what an opportunity,” said Green after the miss on the Premier League’s world feed on Sunday.
“The flick-on gives him all the time he needs to see the ball and adjust but he just doesn’t adjust in time.
“He can’t believe, Elland Road crowd can’t believe it.
“It could prove costly at the end of the game.”
After watching the highlight again, Green added: “It’s a golden opportunity.
“You can see Harrison at the bottom of a group of players. You’re just thinking the only thing that can be that the group of Leicester players have blocked the view of Harrison.
“I don’t know but it’s a glaring miss.”
If that was the first time this season Harrison has had a shocker then we could forgive it.
However, the 24-year-old has been woefully bad this season and is starting to look like the player Leeds signed on loan from Manchester City in Marcelo Bielsa’s first season in charge.
Harrison is someone who’s grown under Bielsa, getting better and better every season.
However, his progress has not only halted this season but we’ve actually seen a massive decline from the Stoke-born attacker, who was being dubbed as a possible England call-up at one point.
Harrison’s been reported to be carrying a rib injury but would an injured rib stop you from scoring that chance he had against Leicester?
He should have scored and you’d put your money on everyone else in that team scoring – even Illan Meslier.
Bielsa needs to drop Harrison. Not just because of his form but also so he can properly recover from this rib issue that could be holding him back.
In other Leeds United news, this player must be axed after a 4/10 display in the 1-1 draw with Leicester.
