Rio Ferdinand: Leeds United won't get relegated from Premier League this season
Rio Ferdinand has insisted that Leeds United won’t get relegated from the Premier League this season.
The controversial Elland Road figure has reacted after watching the Whites in their thrilling 3-3 draw with Aston Villa in the past week.
With the studio next to the Leeds fans, Ferdinand took pelters and has admitted that the current bottom three will be the trio to go.
Speaking live on his Vibe with FIVE podcast over on YouTube, Ferdinand shared his verdict after taking it all in.
“I think the three teams that are in the bottom three now go down,” he said. “That’s it. Newcastle are out.
“Leeds and Brentford could get dragged in. But I just think the three teams in the bottom three, they have to win too many games and the others have to lose too many to get out.”
We have to admit there are real nerves in the air ahead of a huge week against Manchester United, Liverpool and Spurs.
There is a sense of surprise that Ferdinand hasn’t been left bitter after the abuse he received from the away end at Villa Park.
One thing saving Leeds right now is the form of the bottom three, and the fact that they do have some games-in-hand compared to the likes of Brentford.
Unfortunately, one of those games is the Liverpool one.
Should we get through this little run with a win and a draw somehow, that will all but secure our status in the league, but that is easier said than done?
The Everton display was up there with the worst we have seen all season, and something needs to change very quickly.
