‘Comes a point’ – Rio Ferdinand claims Leeds players could go against Marcelo Bielsa
Rio Ferdinand has claimed that Leeds United players could go against Marcelo Bielsa should they continue losing in the Premier League.
The former Whites defender made the bizarre claim that some players in the squad could start to demand changes in his tactics and approach.
Leeds are currently sitting 12th in the Premier League, and are only three points behind the likes of Chelsea, having lost the same number of games as Arsenal.
Speaking on his YouTube show, FIVE, Ferdinand made the bizarre claim about the Whites squad should they continue losing.
“There comes a point, the way he’s playing that I could see him losing players at times if they’re not winning,” he said.
“Players will go against him and be like ‘we’re not winning, are we going to change, deviate these tactics that got us here?’ They could be our undoing if we don’t find a little bit more balance with it.”
Here we go, again.
What is it about Leeds and Bielsa that pundits don’t seem to understand? The likes of Paul Merson and Gabby Agbonlahor can’t keep the Whites out of their mouth and how they should change.
Ferdinand isn’t usually on the same list as those names, but this is a shocking claim to make, especially when he has been at Thorp Arch watching training live this season.
Players such as our record signing, Rodrigo told him that day that they love working with Bielsa – so they wouldn’t go against him.
Another marquee signing, Raphinha, admitted that he made the move to Elland Road because of the all-out attacking style and how Leeds go to win every game.
Ferdinand is usually on the money with his analysis, but he is far off the ball with this.
