Richard Keys reacts to major Premier League twist as Leeds United get last-gasp draw v Brighton

Richard Keys has insisted that Leeds United are well and truly alive after scoring a late equaliser in their Premier League showdown against Brighton on Sunday [15 May].

The Whites are one point ahead of Burnley in that last relegation spot, but the Clarets have a game-in-hand against Aston Villa to play on Thursday before the final day of the season.

Leeds will be favourites to remain in the Premier League should Villa take all three points, and will watch on nervously before the final day trip to Brentford.

Speaking on the BeIN Sports headlines on Twitter after the first round of Premier League fixtures on Sunday [15 May], Keys reacted to all of the action.

“Danny Welbeck of Brighton led at Leeds,” he said.

“Until stoppage time, where they are still alive.”

Alive.

This could be the one moment that everyone involved with the Whites needed.

Leeds deserved a point, if not more against Brighton and they got that after Pascal Struijk headed home in the dying moments to send them out of the relegation zone.

Now, all we need is another favour from Aston Villa to make sure we stay there ahead of the final day of the season where anything is possible, especially in the Premier League.

Brentford never looked massively comfortable against Everton over the weekend despite them being down to 10 and then nine men at Goodison Park, so going there and getting a result isn’t out of the picture.

Burnley have Newcastle on the final day after Villa, and there will be members of that squad playing for their futures under the moneybag owners, so expect a tough challenge there.

This was never going to be a walk in the park, but we have to have everything crossed going through this week, let’s hope we go into that final day outside of the bottom three with it in our own hands.
