Richard Keys goes berserk at ‘disgraceful’ Leeds United after what he read about Sam Allardyce

Richard Keys has criticised Leeds United for their “disgraceful” performance against Tottenham Hotspur on Sunday and stated Sam Allardyce’s men didn’t have the character to avoid relegation.

The Whites confirmed their inevitable Premier League relegation fate on Sunday [28 May] after another disappointing 4-1 defeat to Tottenham Hotspur at Elland Road, ending their 3-year spell in the English top-flight.

And writing in his weekly column [30 May], the TV presenter was left raging at the Whites’ performance and didn’t blame the Elland Road faithful for lacking belief.

He said: “I was also a little surprised at how bad Leeds actually are.

“If Sam Allardyce could be honest I’m sure he’d say the same. They’re awful. There’s nothing there. If they had a chance of beating Spurs it had to be because of that outstanding crowd, but when they turned it was all over.

“And I don’t blame the Elland Road faithful either. Going one down, so quickly and easily, was disgraceful. I’ve read today that Sam says there isn’t enough goals in the side.

“There’s no bollocks either. Its sad. How the hell can Leeds get relegated again?”

Dreadful

Leeds United were simply dreadful on Sunday, especially after the talk pre-match was about the club looking to showcase some fight and aggression in their final performance of the campaign.

The Whites not only lacked quality against Spurs but just seemed to give up when Kane bagged the opener. Only a few players in the side can hold their heads up high, but for the rest of Allardyce’s team, it was another dreadful and sorry performance.

While Allardyce may have been deemed the right decision by many due to his long-held record of keeping panicking clubs in the Premier League, the decision to appoint him with just four games to go was simply crazy.

It’s uncertain whether the former Blackburn and England manager will remain in the dugout for next season, but Leeds United can ill-afford to entertain the same costly and indecisiveness over their next managerial appointment.

Plenty of change is desperately needed at Elland Road but at this moment in time, the Leeds United faithful can be forgiven for having no confidence in an immediate Premier League return for the 2024/25 campaign.
