Richard Keys fires shots at Marcelo Bielsa after 'brilliant' Leeds United draw v Crystal Palace

Richard Keys has taken a dig at former Leeds manager Marcelo Bielsa after their 0-0 draw with Crystal Palace, saying they’d have lost if he was still manager.

The Whites moved five points clear of the relegation zone thanks to a second consecutive clean sheet under Jesse Marsch, only the second time this season they’ve managed that.

Keys took to Twitter to praise the team for the result which he called ‘brilliant’ but took a major shot at former boss Bielsa, saying they’d have lost if he was still manager.

“Brilliant point for Leeds,” he said. “That’s the way to grind out survival. If Bielsa is in charge they lose that game.”

Leeds now head into a three-game run against Manchester City, Arsenal and Chelsea but are unbeaten in their last five games and are full of confidence heading into the final stretch of the season.

What was the need to bring Bielsa into the conversation after a great performance from a side he hasn’t managed for months?

The media are desperate for the fans to turn against Marsch because he replaced Bielsa, despite the fact that ultimately it looks like it was the right decision.

Marsch has done a great job since arriving and while many would have rather been on this journey until the end with the Argentine, we all want Premier League football more than anything else right now.

This constant need to pit the two against each other is a way for them to divide the fan base and that won’t help the team on the pitch, so we need to ignore it and get behind the man currently in charge.

It was a great point for the team despite an underwhelming performance but at this point it’s the points that are the most important, and we’re now a little bit closer to survival.
