Richard Keys blasts what Premier League supremo said about Leeds – ‘Joke’

Richard Keys is not a fan of Premier League chiefs advising Leeds United and other newly-promoted teams on how to survive relegation.

Leeds secured automatic promotion to the Premier League on Easter Monday (21 April), claiming their place in the top flight with two games left to play.

The Whites will still be determined to finish the season atop the Championship table, but there is a lot of relief at Elland Road after their primary objective was achieved.

All eyes are now on next season, with Daniel Farke already facing the prospect of being sacked as the 49ers look at ways to avoid dropping straight back down.

Keys hits out at Karren Brady over Leeds comments

Leeds’ promotion has garnered a lot of attention not only from those who follow the Championship but also from the entire English football fraternity.

Karren Brady was among those who reacted to the Whites’ promotion, penning a column on The Sun about how they and Burnley can avoid the ‘yo-yo’ curse.

However, Keys is not pleased to see the West Ham United vice-chairman offer advice to Leeds and other newly-promoted teams, while her own decisions at the London Stadium are questionable.

The former Sky Sports commentator described Brady’s column as a ‘joke’ and told the West Yorkshire outfit to do the opposite of what she said.

“She was giving advice to Leeds and Burnley in her column at the weekend”, Keys wrote in a column on his personal website (28 April).

“My advice would be that both clubs should listen carefully to what she’s got to say – and then do the opposite. What a joke.”

Paraag Marathe flies in for Farke sack talks

Meanwhile, planning for life in the Premier League is already underway at Leeds, although they have two more games left to play.

Paraag Marathe is flying in from San Francisco ahead of the Peacocks’ Championship clash with Bristol City at Elland Road on Monday, 28 April.

The Leeds chairman will be in attendance for the game before holding talks with Farke over his future later this week.

Members of the 49ers Enterprises have expressed concerns over the German tactician’s credibility as a Premier League manager, but Marathe has the final say over the matter.

He wants to hear from Farke directly about how he intends to approach a season in the Premier League.

Meanwhile, Leeds have already sounded out Giovanni van Bronckhorst and two others over potentially replacing the ex-Norwich boss.
