Richard Keys absolutely loves what he saw Leeds United do in win vs Liverpool
Richard Keys has praised Leeds United for having a go at Liverpool and being rewarded for it with a win during their game on Saturday night.
The Whites ended a run of eight games without a win thanks to Crysencio Summerville’s injury time winner, taking them out of the relegation zone in the process.
And writing in his weekly blog [1 November], Keys gave Leeds “top marks” for their performance and says they showed what happens if you “rattle the cages of the big boys” instead of just sitting back and waiting to be beaten.
“Top marks to Leeds, who went to Anfield with a bit of devil in them and got their reward,” he said.
“In the position they were in you’d have forgiven them for doing a ‘Leicester’ on Liverpool – but not a bit of it.
“They proved that if you rattle the cages of the big boys you can unsettle them.”
You could argue that a win at Anfield wasn’t deserved based on the run of play as Liverpool had a lot of chances and Illan Meslier turned in a top performance.
But considering some of the performances the team has turned in when they lost games, like against Arsenal, then the world was balancing itself out on Saturday night.
Jesse Marsch has never been one to hide or change his system around for big games, and it’s often been the detriment of the team against top opposition.
But he got the balance spot on in this game and the team were able to perform at the right level, get the bit of luck they needed and get a huge three points.
Now they need to keep that running and go into the weekend game with Bournemouth to get another win and move away from the relegation zone as much as possible before the World Cup break.
