Report shares if Leeds United can recall Darko Gyabi amid midfield crisis for Daniel Farke
Leeds United will be unable to recall Darko Gyabi from his loan at Plymouth Argyle until at least January, according to Joe Donnohue.
The Yorkshire Evening Post’s Leeds writer [4 October] explained the scenario surrounding the 20-year-old as well as Sam Greenwood, who are both away at fellow Championship clubs.
It is understood clubs are not permitted to recall players out on loan until the transfer window reopens and even then Gyabi would only be eligible for an early return to Elland Road in January if there is a recall clause in his loan agreement.
Daniel Farke’s midfield has become threadbare in under a week following the news Ethan Ampadu and Ilia Gruev will both be out until after the turn of the year, leaving the German with three central midfielders.
Leeds United plunged into midfield crisis
Farke already appeared to have reservations with the board after the transfer window closed, implying certain targets were not invested in with his squad being left on the short side.
Injuries to a key midfield duo among other players on the treatment table have hit hard, and now the manager’s options in the middle of the park extend to Joe Rothwell, Ao Tanaka and youngster Charlie Crew.
The trio will have to play a pivotal role for the next few months until either an agreement can be made to recall some midfield cover, bring in a new arrival or gamble on Ampadu’s recovery going smoothly as the captain should return before Gruev.
Games are now coming thick and fast for the Whites and they simply have to keep pace with the players they have – which luckily for Farke, is a talented squad.
