Report: Rodrigo leaving Leeds United is 'inevitable'

Rodrigo leaving Leeds United this summer has become ‘inevitable’ with his frustrations growing at Elland Road, according to Fichajes.

The Spanish outlet have also reported that the record-signing has already asked to leave the Whites before even completing a full season in West Yorkshire.

Marcelo Bielsa has used the forward sparingly since he arrived, with injuries and COVID-19 taking away large chunks of his campaign.

The main reason behind his apparent unhappiness is his lack of minutes.

With the European Championships coming up in the summer, Rodrigo is fearful of missing out on the Spain squad for that competition.

Rodrigo did miss the latest Spanish squad after his injury, with Diego Llorente the only representative from Thorp Arch.

Luis Enrique did name an experimental squad, with the inclusion of young attacker Bryan Gil one that caught the eye, and one spot that Rodrigo could look to steal with some impressive performances after the break.

Ludicrous.

Rodrigo himself will know that his injuries and other circumstances haven’t helped his cause, and he appears happy in every interview and social media post.

The 30-year-old has completed 1068 minutes of action in the Premier League, and once he fully regains his fitness, he is surely guaranteed to start.

Bielsa used the forward consistently after the New Year until that latest setback against Leicester City cost him time on the pitch yet again.

With Tyler Roberts being sent home early from Wales’ international camp for breaching protocols, his spot is surely up in the air.

This is the perfect chance for Rodrigo to string together some starts, and throw himself into next season and prove his worth at Elland Road for good.
