Report – Price tag set in battle for 22y/o Leeds target, eight-figure fee quoted

Leeds United will have to pay over £20 million if they are to sign QPR talisman Eberechi Eze this summer, according to The Sun

The 22-year-old has been a key player for the R’s this season, hitting 14 goals in the Championship, including a stunner against West Brom on the last day of the season.

The Sun have previously reported that the Whites plotted a plan to sign Eze back in January if and when they got promoted.

And now that has happened, the national outlet are reporting that Marcelo Bielsa’s men will look to push ahead with a move.

Any potential switch won’t come easy, however.

As well as competition from the likes of West Ham and Crystal Palace, the Whites could face a fee in excess of £20 million.

That price tag is based at least partially on the similar fee that the Hammers paid for Jarrod Bowen in January, and the success that the former Hull City man has had in the Premier League.

At first glance, £20 million seems like a big fee for Championship player, but Eze is a special talent, there’s no doubt about it.

The playmaker registered the third highest average match rating in the entire division this season, as per Whoscored, beaten only by Brentford’s Said Benrahma and West Brom’s Matheus Pereira.

Similarly, Jamie Redknapp has previously claimed that the youngster has real “star quality” about him.

A player of his potential doesn’t come around too often, and even at £20 million, he has the talent to make his price tag look like a steal.
