Marcelo Bielsa is likely to quit Leeds United if they fail to win promotion this season and Serie A club Hellas Verona are keen to hire him, according to L’Arena.
The Italian news outlet claims that Verona manager Ivan Juric is on the radar of West Ham and if Juric leaves the Serie A club, Bielsa is a manager who they will turn their attention to.
Verona have been punching well above their weight in Serie A this season.
Last season saw them win promotion via the Serie B play-offs and now, 25 matches in, they are sitting eighth and only four points off a potential spot in the Europa League.
Juric has done a good enough job in Verona to merit Premier League interest but would Bielsa really head to Italy if he walks out on Leeds?
We cannot say for sure what Bielsa will do past the end of this season if the Whites do not win promotion to the Premier League.
If they go up then it’s very likely he’ll stay on but if they don’t, it remains to be seen whether a third year in the Championship will interest such a reputable manager with a decent Serie A club interested.
We are not that concerned about Bielsa’s future just yet and the odds have to be in Leeds’ favour in terms of winning promotion to the Premier League.
Let’s win promotion once football is back on and end all this talk about Bielsa’s future before it starts to swirl out of control.
