Leeds United are interested in Marseille defender Jordan Amavi, according to French outlet Foot01.
The report claims that the Whites are an “attractive challenge” for the left-back, who is also attracting the attention of Crystal Palace.
It is believed that the 26-year-old would like to play under Marcelo Bielsa, having just missed out on the Argentine while he was at Marseille.
Amavi joined the French club from Aston Villa in 2017, with the Villans previously rejecting a £25million bid from a Chinese club.
Ticks the right boxes
Amavi would be a very sensible addition so it is positive to see Leeds showing an interest.
At 26 he has experience but also the potential to learn new things and develop his game under Bielsa’s guidance.
The defender has impressed in his career so far with a WhoScored average rating of 7.1, and he should work well operating behind Jack Harrison.
Leeds need a natural left-back. It’s not Stuart Dallas’ natural position and Gjanni Alioskiis better going forward.
WhoScored list his strengths as dribbling and aerial duels, and both of these would fit with what Leeds need.
Moreover, he has Premier League experience from his time at Villa, so he should settle in quickly. He was unlucky there with injury.
The only problem is his injury record and the player is currently out at the moment, all but ruling out a January move.
If he can get fit, though, he could be a great addition on a free in the summer.
