Report – Leeds set to reach Ben White agreement with Brighton

Ben White is set to have his loan deal with Leeds United extended to cover the final months of the Championship season, according to The Telegraph.

The 22-year-old has established himself as a standout performer for the Whites during his spell at Elland Road this term, but was due to return to parent club Brighton this month.

It is understood, however, that the Seagulls are willing to grant an extension to his loan stint in the wake of the ongoing Coronavirus pandemic.

Clubs in the second tier have decided in favour of restarting their campaign on June 20th following a lengthy suspension of action that has left Leeds with nine matches to play.

White is now expected to be available for all of those fixtures, plus any play-off ties if the Whites drop out of the automatic promotion places.

The report suggests that any new agreement would last until the end of July.

This is wonderful news, and will no doubt ease a few nerves around Elland Road.

White has been a mainstay of Marcelo Bielsa’s side this season, featuring in all 37 Championship fixtures so far.

Having his presence at the back will hopefully help to keep Leeds’ fine run of form going into this final stretch of their promotion push, with the Whites currently on a run of five straight league wins.

As previously reported by Football Insider, the expectation that this kind of general agreement between clubs would be reached has been in place for some time now.

But having a more concrete update on White’s future specifically is a real boost for the club as they enter their most decisive run of games in recent history.
