Report – Leeds make transfer enquiry about 23y/o PL playmaker

Leeds United have made an enquiry about Norwich City playmaker Emiliano Buendia, according to Read Norwich

The 23-year-old has been a rare shining light for the Canaries during a difficult return to Premier League football this season, registering seven assists in 29 top flight outings.

And with Daniel Farke’s men facing the very real possibility of an immediate relegation back down to the Championship in the coming weeks, it is understood that have made a tentative approach about his availability this summer.

The report makes it clear that there is as yet no concrete indication as to whether Norwich would be willing to sell the Argentinian, or indeed if the player himself would even be interested in making a move to Elland Road.

But the question has been asked, and Read Norwich suggest that it would be difficult to imagine Buendia staying at Carrow Road if Norwich’s relegation is sealed.

The creative midfielder has hit eight goals and 24 assists in 72 outings for Norwich over the course of his time in England.

This would certainly be an interesting move for Leeds to make, and one that we have to say could be a really smart piece of business.

Buendia fulfils a similar kind of role for Norwich as Pablo Hernandez does for the Whites, and there is plenty to suggest that he could be a decent successor for the 35-year-old if and when he hangs up his boots.

Despite playing in the division about the Spaniard this season, Buendia has averaged a pass completion rate that is 5% better than Hernandez’s, as well as making 1.76 more dribbles, and winning more offensive duels, as per Wyscout.

He already has Premier League experience, looks to be a wonderful asset in terms of his creative ability, and if the price was right, this could be a good acquisition.
