Leeds close to agreeing £120m QSI takeover deal after Premier League development – report
Talk of the potential QSI takeover has emerged again after 90min.com has said that they are “prioritising” a Leeds United takeover “in the near future”.
In an interesting development, the report claims that QSI was recently offered three Premier League clubs to buy but claimed the investment group – headed by PSG owner Nasser al-Khelaifi – are only interested in a Leeds takeover.
The report also claims that Andrea Radrizzani and QSI chairman al-Khelaifi are “close to agreeing a deal, with the initial terms worth close to the £120m mark”.
If this report is accurate, it’s a sign of how Leeds are viewed by QSI that they’ve turned down Premier League clubs to focus on taking over at Elland Road.
Leeds have a huge fan base, are on the brink of a return to the Premier League (hopefully) and are about to sign a new kit deal with Adidas.
There’s also been talk of expanding Elland Road to a 50,000 capacity if Leeds get promoted.
When you look at Newcastle, where Mike Ashley wants between £300m and £350m for his club, you can see why a Leeds takeover for £120m would be so attractive.
It’s attractive for the club and Leed fans too, with the reality that Victor Orta and Marcelo Bielsa will need to strengthen the squad for the Premier League.
Radrizzani had said previously that a QSI takeover could take Leeds into the same spending bracket as Man City.
However, any deal would surely involve Leeds getting promoted and that’s in doubt with the Championship currently suspended.
