Report details big development on Bielsa future at Leeds
Real Betis have made contact with Marcelo Bielsa’s camp as they aim to hire the Leeds United boss at the end of the season, according to El Desmarque.
The Spanish news outlet claims that unless current manager Rubi works a miracle between now and the end of the campaign, it is expected that Betis will be on the search for his replacement in the summer.
Bielsa, 64, has now joined a growing list of managers linked with Betis with Marcelino García Toral and Manuel Pellegrini also reportedly on the La Liga’s clubs radar as they aim to qualify for European football next term.
Bielsa’s contract at Leeds is set to expire in the summer and El Desmarque has made the shock claim that the Argentine “wants to leave England” with Spain being a desirable next step in his career.
It is quite hard to believe that Bielsa would want to quit working in English football and surely a decision on whether or not he wants to leave Leeds is down to promotion to the Premier League.
As it stands, Leeds are in a good position to secure automatic promotion to the top-flight and if that happens, you would imagine that the Argentine would have his stay at Elland Road extended.
Why would he work so hard to build Leeds into the force they are now, just to walk away from them once he achieves his goal? There’ll be a lot more work to be done after that.
If the Whites miss out on promotion then some fans are perhaps expecting Bielsa to quit and that would make sense.
But for now, this really should be taken with a pinch of salt.
In other Leeds United news, this out-of-form Leeds player must win over supporters with a big display against Middlesbrough.
