Report - 24y/o mooted Leeds target put up for sale, current club plans mass exodus

Leeds United target Rob Holding has been transfer listed by Arsenal, according to the Daily Express

The central defender was initially mentioned as a potential target by the Daily Mail, with the Whites seeking alternatives to Brighton defender Ben White after having a number of bids knocked back in recent weeks.

And it is understood that the likelihood of signing Holding has increased significantly after Mikel Arteta decided he has no future in north London.

According to the Express, the 24-year-old has been put up for sale this summer as the Gunners look to enact a mass clear out.

That exodus could see as many as 15 players leave, with Holding being overtly told that he is surplus to requirement at the Emirates.

If this report is true then it could certainly simplify things for Leeds this summer.

In a transfer window that promises to be complicated by the effects of the Coronavirus pandemic, having a club who are actively seeking to sell a player you are interested in could be a real boost.

On paper, Holding looks like a decent alternative for White too.

His pass completion rate last season was 1.8% higher, while he also made more interceptions per 90 minutes, as per Wyscout.

That’s not to say that we would rather sign him than the Brighton defender, but certainly, if things started getting a little fraught in the latter stages of the window, and if it becomes apparent that a deal for White is not going to happen, then perhaps it could be worth focussing our attentions elsewhere.
