Rene Maric wowed by Leeds United attacker Brenden Aaronson in training

Rene Maric has been left impressed by Leeds United attacking midfielder Brenden Aaronson who brings “high intensity” in training.

The midfielder was part of the USA national team for the World Cup in Qatar but he was unable to start in any of the four matches and was limited to just 105 minutes from the bench.

He has returned to Leeds training with full vigour and excelled in last week’s 4-2 friendly defeat to Monaco at Elland Road.

“He’s a great boy,” said assistant manager Maric, as quoted by Yorkshire Post.

“He’s always training at a very, very high intensity. The numbers he produces in games, the physical output he produces in training are amazing and the same in training.

“He adapted very quickly after not playing that much in the World Cup, then having a few days off. We’re very happy with the progress he’s making towards the return of the Premier League.”

High hopes

Aaronson joined in the summer transfer window from RB Salzburg and has quickly emerged as one of the key players under Jesse Marsch.

He has made 14 starts in the Premier League so far, managing one goal and two assists. He has earned rave reviews from fans and pundits, but he would definitely love to improve his numbers.

It was a decent World Cup for the Americans where they were knocked out in the round of 16 by Netherlands.

Aaronson’s club and country teammate, Tyler Adams, was particularly impressive during the World Cup in Qatar and received top praise following his performance against England.

Adams is suspended for the first game back, but Aaronson is expected to start for Leeds when they take on Manchester City in the Premier League after the World Cup break.

Leeds have been poor in the first half of the season despite the fact that there have been signs of recovery prior to the World Cup. The Whites are 15th in the league table at the moment, and they have some tough games coming up during the festive period.
