Reliable journo says who Leeds are likely to play in first fixture once Championship resumes

Leeds United are likely to play their fixtures in the same order they were down as before the Championship was brought to a halt in March, according to Sun journalist Alan Nixon.

Leeds were due to play away against Cardiff City on March 15 before all elite-level football in England was stopped due to the coronavirus.

And based on a recent tweet by Nixon, it will be Cardiff who Leeds play first once the Championship season resumes.

If Leeds’ fixture list is to stay the same then it means that their fixtures will be in the order as follows:

Cardiff (A)

Fulham (H)

Luton (H)

Blackburn (A)

Stoke (H)

Swansea (A)

Barnsley (H)

Derby (A)

Charlton (H)

Based on an update by BBC Sport journalist Simon Stone, it appears likely that Leeds will play behind closed doors at the Cardiff City Stadium on June 20.

Marcelo Bielsa’s men may then play their final fixture of the season on either July 18 or July 19 when Lee Bowyer’s Charlton play at what is bound to be an empty Elland Road.

Of course, all this depends on whether the EFL give the green light for the football to resume and there are no hitches along the way.

But, as reported by The Athletic’s Phil Hay, there has been a positive shift in recent days that suggests the season will resume soon.

In other Leeds United news, this is what will happen if a Leeds player tests positive for coronavirus this week.
