Reliable journalist shares update on Leeds United pursuit of Chelsea ace Christian Pulisic and Newcastle interest in Jack Harrison

Leeds United signing Christian Pulisic from Chelsea and Jack Harrison leaving for Newcastle is reportedly a possibility for them.

According to CBS journalist Ben Jacobs, the picture will become clearer for Pulisic and Harrison after the World Cup which will end in December.

This is despite the fact that Harrison will not be at the tournament – having yet to make his debut for the Three Lions.

Speaking to Give Me Sport, Jacobs said, “There is some talk that Leeds are interested in Pulisic and people will naturally make that link because of Jesse Marsch, so could Newcastle get [Jack] Harrison and then Leeds get Pulisic?

“All of that’s a possibility, but I don’t think the picture will be clearer for a number of these players, even the ones not involved in the World Cup, until the World Cup’s out of the way.”

Not needed

Signing Pulisic to replace Harrison may be one of the worst deals Leeds will have made in the last five years and we’re hoping that they do not.

The American connection is understandable but if Marsch rationally analyses his form, he will see how he’s declined since his move to Stamford Bridge.

At Borussia Dortmund, he looked like the next big thing and there was plenty of intrigue when he joined Chelsea but it clearly has not worked out.

Calciomercato reported in September that the Blues will be looking for £31.5million if they are to part ways with the 24-year-old.

Even if Harrison leaves for more money than that, Leeds are unlikely to sign someone for the same amount.

Their policy has been to sign someone cheaper and perhaps younger who can then grow into the role as they did with Luis Sinisterra and Raphinha.

In other Leeds United news, an Elland Road-linked midfielder is now certain to leave his club in the coming weeks as a host of Premier League clubs are vying for his services.
