Reliable journalist shares update on Kalvin Phillips Leeds United future amid Man United links

Leeds United midfielder Kalvin Phillips is not seeking a move away from the club this summer and will sign a new long-term deal, according to Jacque Talbot.

The England international has been linked with a £60m transfer away from Elland Road this summer, with Newcastle, Aston Villa and Manchester United [MEN] all linked.

But with the club’s Premier League safety all but secured after a good run of form, Times journalist Talbot has shared that he has been told that Phillips will be going nowhere this summer.

In a tweet on his personal Twitter account, Talbot says that a new long-term deal will be signed once the club’s Premier League status is officially confirmed.

He says the player’s love for the club is one big reason, and says the chances of a move to a close rival are ‘scarce’ because of this.

Huge

The news of the imminent renewal of Phillips’ contract at Elland Road is absolutely huge and important news for the club.

This was a saga that seemed intent on dragging on throughout the summer, with some top clubs showing their interest early and Leeds’ current position means it would be hard for them to turn offers down.

With that said though, the talk coming out of the player’s camp has always been that he wants a new contract and he wants to stay.

He is more than deserving of a huge pay rise and improved terms and now it seems as though he’s going to receive it, shunting offers from clubs playing in Europe in the process.

No fans would begrudge him for stepping up a level in competition after the club’s troubles this season, but thankfully he loves Leeds and won’t be going anywhere.
