Reliable journalist posts big Leeds update on hunt for £20m-rated attacker Bielsa wants to sign

Mirror journalist David Anderson has delivered a big Leeds United update on QPR attacker Eberechi Eze, after the London club put a £20m price tag on his head.

Anderson claims that Leeds are “keen” but aren’t willing to pay the £20m valuation.

He also claimed that Crystal Palace have already had a £10m offer rejected.

West Ham are also said to be in the hunt for the player who was involved in 22 goals for QPR in the 19/20 season.

Leeds’ links to Eze have come from two main sources.

First, Phil Hay named the attacker as a player who would have an equally attractive profile to Leeds as their number one target Said Benrahma.

The Sun had reported that Marcelo Bielsa had identified the QPR attacker as the man to spearhead Leeds’ assault on the Premier League.

The report claimed Leeds were readying a bid for the 22-year-old and were willing to pay more than their rivals.

However, it looks like that ‘more’ doesn’t stretch to the £20m asking price. It had been said the West London club were worried that Eze’s price could drop because of the Coronavirus outbreak and that could prove to be the case.

Leeds have bid a lot of money for Ben White – the latest report claims a £30m bid has been rejected by Brighton – so the cash is there.

However, Leeds obviously have their valuation on Eze and it doesn’t match up with QPR’s at the moment.

He’s still a player we’d love to see at Elland Road and MOT Leeds News columnist Paul Robinson has said he could be the long-term successor to Pablo Hernandez at Elland Road.

However, he also said Eze wouldn’t walk into the Leeds side in the Premier League – and that doesn’t sound like a £20m player to us.
