Reliable journalist: This is what EFL has told Championship clubs today about 19/20 re-start
Sun journalist Alan Nixon posted a tweet on Friday afternoon that will give fresh hope to Leeds United fans that the season can get completed.
Nixon said, “Hear EFL told Championship clubs today what would be needed to restart. Seems to have gone down ok. Nowhere near level of problems mentioned by some.”
He rounded the post off with a winking emoji.
This is great news.
There was a definite downturn in the narrative around the Championship this week with the Guardian reporting a contingency plan if games couldn’t be finished. That would still see Leeds United promoted.
The Premier League spent four hours discussing Project Restart on Friday and the upshot was also positive – a firm commitment that the season would get finished, along with a new meeting scheduled for next Friday.
That’s a day after the government will outline whether lockdown conditions in the UK can relax after the Coronavirus outbreak was said to have peaked.
That should mean more definitive information from the Premier League and the EFL, which can only be good news, with so many different strands of information flying around.
