Reliable journalist claims Leeds locked in talks with cash-stricken club over big summer signing
There are conflicting reports coming out about the state of play over a Leeds United deal for Stade Brest left-back Romain Perraud.
He’s a player that Leeds have been linked strongly to, with Phil Hay claiming back in February that he was a player the club had as a target.
Earlier today, Mirror journalist David Anderson said that he “is not a target this summer”.
However, journalist Ignazio Genuardi has dismissed that and said that Perraud is in fact a “priority” signing for Leeds if Gjanni Alioski leaves, as expected.
Genuardi posted a follow-up tweet today, after the claim from Anderson, saying that everything was “on track” with the transfer and that talks are ongoing.
Perraud a very attractive propositon
The summer window isn’t even open yet and transfer reports are heating up.
Phil Hay is out of action after an operation and he’s the man who can normally cut through all the conjecture.
Genuardi is the former editor of the 365 set of sites and his contacts in France should be stronger there, with all due respect, than Anderson’s.
Perraud is a player who seems to fit the bill perfectly at Leeds.
Leeds will need a specialist left-back and Perraud is the right age and profile.
Talking on the Phil Hay Show podcast, Hay said, “He [Perraud] is starting to become one of the leading left-backs, seen by many people, as the best left-back or one of them in France’s top division.
“It’s very clear from the performance data that he’s a very attacking left-back, who is good at creating chances, taking shots himself, a threat going forward, but also really good at employing the press, good as part of a team that likes to press aggressively. On those basic pointers, you can see why Leeds are interested.”
TeamTalk claimed that as a smaller club, Brest, would be hit hardest by the financial crisis engulfing French clubs.
Kieran Maguire claimed that £20m-rated players could be available for as little as £8m.
We hope that Genuardi is the journalist with the correct information.
