Reliable journalist claims huge Leeds deal almost certain to be completed this summer
The Mirror’s David Anderson has said that Marcelo Bielsa is almost guaranteed to sign a new deal with Leeds United this summer.
Bielsa’s deal expires at the end of the season but all signs indicate that the manager will continue at the club after a wildly successful first season back in the Premier League.
Anderson put out his strong prediction – ‘99.99% certain’ – on his Twitter page after Bielsa’s last pre-match press conference of the season.
Leeds host West Brom at Elland Road on Sunday with fans back inside the stadium for the first time this season.
In the attached article, Bielsa was quoted as saying that he had not been approached by any other club.
“I’m being sincere I do not have alternative options,” Bielsa said. “If I had it I would tell Leeds and not run the risk Leeds are coming to me more than I am going to them.
“The structure of this organisation, this team is a place of work where any manager would like to be, even the best managers in the world.
“That’s to say this place, Leeds United, what the club represents, is something very desirable.”
Anderson also said that Andrea Radrizzani has confirmed that new contract talks are underway with Bielsa.
Mega deal for Leeds
All signs point towards Bielsa signing a new contract but until it’s officially announced we’ll always have a bit of concern.
However, given the season that Leeds have had it would be almost inconceivable for him not to sign on for at least one more season.
We’re hoping that it doesn’t drag on for as long as it did last summer when a new Bielsa deal was announced just ahead of the start of the season.
In an ideal world, Bielsa will announce a new deal after the game on Sunday and with Leeds sitting in eighth in the Premier League.
That’s the highest we can end the season, unless there’s a dramatic swing of goal difference, and while it’s super-close to a place in Europe, we think it’s for the best that we don’t have Thursday night football to contend with next season.
Small steps forward to the top.
