'Relegate them', 'Embarrassing from us' – Some Leeds & rival fans say same thing after club post

The results from the first round of Coronavirus testing were announced by the EFL over the weekend and it was a major positive for Leeds United and the Championship.

Just two positives were recorded from a total of 1,014 tests – a better result than the Premier League recorded in its first round.

The EFL said that it wasn’t going to release results for individual clubs but we thought the news would get out, and on Sunday Hull announced that the two positive tests had come from them.

Coincidentally, Hull were the first side to officially come out and call for the season to be ended early last week.

We’re not suggesting for a second that there is anything untoward about the results that have been delivered using official EFL kit.

We also don’t know if the positive tests came from players or staff.

And our thoughts are with the two individuals and their families. That’s the most important thing and while the fact of two positive tests is being hailed as a big positive, that will be no consolation to those affected directly.

However, some fans from Leeds and from Hull haven’t been as charitable.

Many Leeds fans said they’d called it before it was announced with one going further and saying, “Void Hull’s season, relegate them and let everyone else crack on.”

But it wasn’t just Leeds fans.

Some Hull fans left negative reactions to the news from their own club, with one fan saying, “should just relegate us if we cba to play, the likeliness is we’re going down anyway, we forfeited in January….league one beckons.”

He’s referring to Hull’s decision to sell star players Jarrod Bowen and Kamil Grosicki in January.

Hull might have thought they had enough breathing room to survive without them but recent form says otherwise, with no win since New Year’s Day.

Here is a selection of reactions from Leeds and Hull fans…

Here are the Hull fans who aren’t impressed with the news either…
