Red Bull make Max Verstappen to Leeds United joke after new investment
Red Bull Racing have shared a new Max Verstappen to Leeds United joke following a new investment development at Elland Road.
Reports emerged from Phil Hay on Thursday (30 May) that the Whites’ owners 49ers Enterprises have agreed on a deal to sell a minority stake in the football club to the Red Bull group ahead of the start of next season.
The sponsorship will see the energy drink brand sponsor Leeds’ kit and Red Bull’s Formula 1 side have been quick to put to bed any rumours that World Champion Verstappen could feature at Elland Road next term.
Writing on X on Thursday (30 May) they said: “Just to put an end to the rumours… Max Verstappen will NOT be joining LUFC for their 2024/25 season.”
Will Red Bull have much control at Leeds United after investment announcement?
While some Leeds United supporters will be sceptical about Red Bull’s investment at Elland Road, this tweet almost displays exactly why it could be a good thing for the Whites and Daniel Farke’s side in the long run.
The company’s brand is global throughout the world of sport, with plenty of footballing connections and a Formula 1 team. It can only be a good thing for the Whites to be under that umbrella as it helps grow the brand.
In the long run, the Whites could well be able to sign players from Red Bull Salzburg, RB Leipzig or even New York Red Bulls. While they are connected with the Red Bull brand, they could benefit immensely both commercially and on the pitch.
Verstappen may not be set to make the switch to Elland Road, but this tweet alone will have seen Leeds reach a whole new audience. Alongside the investment of Will Ferrell and other Hollywood stars, this partnership could be very helpful.
