'Really, really shocking' – Ally McCoist reacts to controversial Leeds moment v Palace
Ally McCoist has slammed the VAR decision by Mike Dean that disallowed what looked like a perfectly good goal for Leeds United from Patrick Bamford.
Crystal Palace took the lead in the game after a fast start but Mateusz Klich put Bamford through after 15 minutes.
The goal was given but then disallowed by Mike Dean in the VAR booth.
The decision was met with outrage, with a line looking like it had been drawn from Bamford’s arm.
Talking on Sky Sports Soccer Saturday (Saturday, 3pm) McCoist and Jeff Stelling railed against the decision.
“I, for the life of me, can’t work out how VAR has disallowed it,” Stelling said.
“Jeff, I looked at it twice, he’s got to give a goal,” McCoist said. “I can’t believe he’s disallowed it.
“You know what? He’s disallowed a great goal. I’ve looked at it, I think he’s onside, I don’t think it’s offside mate.
“I think it’s a really, really, shocking VAR decision. Terrible. If you’re Leeds you’re going to be devastated. Not just because it gets you back in the game but it’s a proper, proper goal. I’m so disappointed.”
“We’re getting used to these disappointments,” Stelling countered. “For me, it’s a perfectly good goal and it’s ruining the game when you chalk off goals like that.
“Chris Kavanagh is the referee but it’s Mike Dean on VAR and he’s made that decision.
“I’ve just looked at a still of that offside decision… If that’s offside, what’s the world coming to?”
You can see the decision that Mike Dean gave in the tweet below.
It was said that he gave offside because of Bamford’s shoulder. But the line you can see below is clearly drawn from his arm. You can see clear daylight between the line and Bamford’s armpit.

The officials will say that anything above the bicep (mid t-shirt line is offside) but it just looks ridiculous.
Bamford’s feet are a couple of feet onside and it’s like Dean has decided to give him offside because he pointed to where he wanted the ball to go.
We’re fans of VAR but not some of the idiots making the decisions and Dean has let the game of football down today.
Bamford put it behind him and scored a brilliant goal after 27 minutes but this wasn’t going to be Leeds’ day.
