Reliable journalist: This is what I’m hearing from Leeds about Freeman & Woodrow signing
Leeds United are not interested in Luke Freeman, Cauley Woodrow or Zain Westbrooke, despite reports linking all three players to the club.
That’s what The Mirror journalist David Anderson has said he’s heard from the club.
Freeman (Sheffield United) and Woodrow (Barnsley) were linked to Leeds by Alan Nixon from The Sun. He’s generally got a good track record as far as transfers go.
Both these players would have been exciting additions for the club. Josh Hobbs from Leeds stats site All Stats Aren’t We said if Leeds got both players we’d be in a better position coming out of the window than going into it with Jack Clarke and Eddie Nketiah.
The Westbrooke (Coventry) link came from Sky Sports who tweeted the news out on Monday morning.
Where does that leave Leeds?
The priority is a striker and Che Adams is still their number one target, according to Phil Hay.
That will leave Leeds fans nervous, as the Southampton manager has said he’s going nowhere and any possible change there could mean waiting for the Premier League side to make a signing of their own.
Other options are absolutely essential as Leeds are in desperate need of a back-up striker after Eddie Nketiah returned to Arsenal.
There are already murmurings from some Leeds fans who are desperate not to blow another big shot at promotion.
However, we simply have to trust Victor Orta and Marcelo Bielsa here.
Leeds are top of the league, nine points clear of third and just battered Arsenal in their own backyard for the first 45 minutes on Monday.
The striker we bring in must be capable of moving up to the Premier League and that’s not an easy ask.
