Real Madrid and Barcelona stars send messages to Mateo Joseph after Spain U21s goal

Leeds United forward Mateo Joseph was once again on the scoresheet for Spain under-21s on Wednesday.

The European champions’ youth side travelled to Bratislava on 11 June in their opening game of the U21 EUROs tournament.

It was the Whites striker who scored to hand his side a 2-0 lead before the home side got back on level terms with 53 minutes gone.

Spain ultimately went on to secure a 3-2 win in the 90th minute before messages were sent from Barcelona and Real Madrid to Elland Road favourite Joseph.

In LS11, the 21-year-old failed to truly show his class throughout the Championship campaign, despite starting as the main number nine.

Ultimately, the former Espanyol youngster fell to second choice behind eventual Golden Boot winner Joel Piroe.

That hasn’t stopped Joseph from shining on the international stage, netting his sixth Spain goal in seven U21s appearances.

As a result, it was little surprise to see him net against Slovakia as the European tournament kicked off in positive fashion.

This helped carry his side to a win and sparked messages from a number of star names from high-profile clubs.

Taking to Instagram (12 June), Barcelona ace Pablo Torre shared a ghost emoji in the comments, while new Real Madrid signing Dean Huijsen posted two heart emojis.

This was added to by a comment from former Leeds teammate Junior Firpo, who said, “Goleador,” which translates to “goalscorer” or “attacker” in English.

Joseph shines for Spain U21 again

The Yorkshire club have to build a squad capable of performing in the Premier League and needs their best players to step up.

This will certainly be the case in forward areas, with Daniel Farke having a decision to make over the future of Piroe as a regular starter.

After links to Real Betis, Joseph could still prove to be the man for Leeds, given how excellent he can be when given the opportunity.

The Spanish youngster has continued to shine on the national stage, and there is every chance that he could shine in the elite division of English football.
