Rasmus Kristensen and Diego Llorente transfer update drops after Leeds United failure

Diego Llorente and Rasmus Kristensen’s high wages mean that it will be convenient for Leeds United to move them on again this summer, according to Corriere dello Sport.

The Italian outlet gave a rundown of all the players who have spent this season on loan at Roma and mentioned that the Leeds duo have been in contrasting form at Stadio Olimpico.

Daniel Farke’s side failed to complete an immediate return to the Premier League by losing 1-0 to Southampton in the Championship play-off final, resulting in another second-tier campaign for 2024/25.

That means the Whites will have to move players on this summer, including returning loanees, although it stated that Roma manager Daniele de Rossi might have “good words” to say about Llorente and not Kristensen.

Llorente and Kristensen have no future at Leeds United

Leeds will be cutting their cloth accordingly this summer after a record-breaking fourth play-off final defeat, and that will necessitate changes aplenty to the current squad.

While Llorente had already been loaned to Roma in January 2023, he and Kristensen headed out to the Giallorossi on temporary deals following the Whites’ relegation from the Premier League.

As implied in the report, one of the pair has had far more success than the other at Stadio Olimpico, suggesting that Roma may be inclined to make Llorente’s loan deal a permanent one this summer.

Kristensen, on the other hand, looks almost certain to return to Elland Road in a few weeks with few reports of another move circling.

Having now failed in both the Premier League and Serie A in consecutive seasons, it remains to be seen the level of teams, if any, which come in for him this summer.

If the Danish international doesn’t have any suitors in the coming months, he’ll likely become part of Daniel Farke’s plans for the new season, whereby he’ll have to take the Championship by storm if he’s to have any chance of rebuilding his Leeds United reputation.
