Rashford receives Man United instruction for pre-season friendly v Leeds
Leeds United’s promotion back to the Premier League brings many benefits, with the return of the Manchester United derby no doubt one.
The two sides have not played each other was February 2023, where the Red Devils overcame the Peacocks 2-0 at Elland Road.
Now, the rivalry is set to be renewed, with Leeds set to face Man United on 3 January, the anniversary of their famous 1-0 victory in the FA Cup in 2010.
However, before then, Daniel Farke’s side will play the Manchester club in a pre-season friendly in preparation for the start of the Premier League campaign.

Marcus Rashford told to stay at Carrington for Leeds friendly
Leeds United will take on Man United on 19 July in Stockholm.
The match is no doubt a chance for Farke to assess his new signings and see where else the Yorkshire club are in need of reinforcements.
Manchester United will be in the same boat. However, Ruben Amorim has plenty of players he is actively trying to get rid of this summer.
One such star is Marcus Rashford, who was loaned out to Aston Villa in the latter part of the 2024/25 campaign.
Now back at Man United, Amorim is keen to rid himself of the England international this summer.
As a result, according to the Daily Mail (16 July), Rashford, alongside Jadon Sancho, Antony, Tyrell Malacia, and Alejandro Garnacho, have been told to report to training this weekend rather than to Stockholm.

Manchester United friendly is a big opportunity for Leeds
Saturday’s friendly presents a massive opportunity for Farke and the Peacocks.
Leeds, rightly or wrongly, have been tipped to go down this season after their promotion to the Premier League.
However, if Leeds can comfortably overcome the Red Devils in Stockholm, it will show that Leeds have the capability to easily survive.
Leeds’ pre-season schedule | Date |
Manchester United vs Leeds | 19 July |
Leeds vs Villarreal | 2 August |
Leeds vs AC Milan | 9 August |
This task is doable, with Manchester United in a mess at the moment after their 15th-place finish last season.
Hopefully, Leeds will send a massive warning out to the Premier League on Saturday, showing that they are more than capable of surviving relegation in the upcoming campaign.
