Raphinha and Cooper applaud Rodrigo as he sends message to Leeds fans

Rodrigo was back on the scoresheet for Leeds United against Tottenham and he shared his delight on Instagram after the match.

It has been a difficult few weeks for the Spaniard, who has been sidelined with injury and the subject of rumours linking him with an Elland Road exit [La Razon].

But he responded in the perfect fashion on Saturday when he rounded off the victory by scoring Leeds’ third goal.

He shared a message to Leeds fans afterwards, saying, “Geat team win!! Very happy to see the net again!!! We keep working. MOT.”

And teammates including Raphinha, Liam Cooper and Luke Ayling, amongst others, shared their support for the 30-year-old.

Raphinha’s comment, “Que jogador” translates as ‘what a player’, while Cooper replied, “Buzzing for ya mate.”

Ayling added, “Yes my man” along with two blue heart emojis.

More of the same, please

It is brilliant to see the spirit amongst the squad, with the players having each other’s backs.

The show of support for Rodrigo is particularly important, as he has endured a bit of a troublesome season, and some Whites were perhaps beginning to question his role in the squad.

It is worth remembering he arrived at Leeds during a pandemic, so has not been able to see family and friends in Spain or indeed here in England.

He even suffered from Covid himself, and since the new year he has been plagued by injuries.

Rodrigo has been unable to display what he is truly capable of because of that, but we hope the remaining few games give him an opportunity to build some momentum ahead of next season.

A full preseason could be key and if he builds his confidence we could start to see the best of what he has to offer.
