Raphinha addresses Leeds contract rumours

Leeds winger Raphinha says he is totally focused on making Leeds fans happy and not thinking about leaving, in an interview with BBC Sport West Yorkshire.

The Brazilian has been linked with a move away from Elland Road, with West Ham making a January bid for the player [90min] while Liverpool and Chelsea reportedly hold an interest too [Gianluigi Longari].

However, Leeds are keen to tie him down to a new contract to fight off suitors and reports suggest Raphinha is open to signing a new deal. Speaking to BBC Sport, the 25-year-old said he wasn’t thinking about his future right now though and is leaving contract talks to his agent and dad.

“I’ve got a contract until 2024. My head is totally here focused on Leeds. As for contractual matters, I leave them to my agent and my Dad.

“I’m just focused on playing football, making Leeds fans happy, scoring goals, providing assists and getting victories for the team.

“The contractual matters are for my agent, my focus is on making people happy with my football and doing as best as I can for Leeds.”

Brilliant

Raphinha has been described as ‘brilliant‘ by Jamie O’Hara in the past and if anything that does him a disservice.

Since joining the club he has been by far and away the best and most consistent performer, chipping in important goals, assists and performances too.

Leeds United

Marcelo Bielsa has publicly said he is the best player at the club, and fans know that keeping him this winter was their biggest success in the most recent transfer window.

So news that he is happy at Elland Road and looking to keep the fans happy is a huge positive for the club. A new deal seems inevitable now, even if it just ties him down for an extra season or boosts his value.

The Whites won’t be losing him on the cheap any time soon and fans can rest easy that he has no intention of causing a fuss too. They’ve got a good egg on their hands.
