Rafa Benitez also on Leeds United shortlist with Javi Gracia
Rafa Benitez is reportedly the second name on the Leeds United shortlist as the board want a managerial change as soon as possible.
According to Mo Ibrahim, a staffer for Gianluca Di Marizio, the Champions League winner with Liverpool is wanted by the club.
His most recent stint in management was at Everton where things quickly unravelled for him and he lost the support of the board and the fans.
He wrote on Twitter, “Leeds United are in talks to appoint Javi Garcia as new manager as FabrizioRomano first reported. He is a serious possibility after they weren’t able to get Andoni Iraola. Another name on the list is Rafa Benitez.
No thank you
Benitez will be a throwback to football from the 90s and that’s not something that Leeds want, given their last two appointments.
Marcelo Bielsa has a very distinct style of play and his brand of football entertained the Elland Road faithful for a number of years.
At the time of his sacking, most of the fans felt that it wasn’t vindicated and a year from it, it’s still a hard one to explain.
Marsch played attacking football but very few players improved under him and the results were far from impressive for the American.

Benitez may sort the defence out but going forward he’s not got too many good ideas and this may be detrimental to Leeds.
The squad is built in a way to keep the ball and control the tempo of the game and the Spaniard will play a completely different style.
