Radrizzani urged to make £180m+ investment in deal with former business partner – report
Leeds United owner Andrea Radrizzani has been urged to buy La Liga giants Valencia from Singaporean businessman Peter Lim, according to Marca.
The Spanish news outlet claims that Lim rejected Radrizzani’s idea about buying Valencia in August but it is understood that those close to the Italian have told him not to give up on a potential deal.
It is understood that Valencia have huge debts amounting around £450million and that Lim would not sell the Spanish club for anything less than £180million.
However, Radrizzani and Lim have worked together in the past with deals in Asia and Marca claims that could be an “important factor”.
Risky business for Radz
We’re sure that Radrizzani would know a lot more about us than potentially taking on debut worth £450million but on the face of it, that doesn’t sound like it would be a good deal.
Of course, clearing a large portion of those debts and re-establishing Valencia as one of the top clubs in Spain could lead to Radrizzani making a wise investment in the La Liga club but it seems like a project that would take a very long time to complete.
We would also worry it would take Radrizzani’s focus away from Leeds.
There has been constant talk about him selling the club to QSI or San Francisco 49ers buying more shares off the Italian business but ultimately, we don’t want Radrizzani to go anywhere.
Radrizzani woke the sleeping giant of Leeds as soon as he bought the Yorkshire club from Massimo Cellino in 2017.
He invested in the squad, bought back Elland Road and a year later, hired Marcelo Bielsa as manager.
Radrizzani has probably had the biggest role in Leeds’ return to the Premier League and we don’t want him selling up or losing his majority shareholding at the club to take on a mammoth task at Valencia.
In other Leeds United news, these two players could be dropped for the game versus West Brom.
