Radrizzani speaks out about Bielsa contract, suggests how long new deal will last

Leeds United owner Andrea Radrizzani has suggested that Marcelo Bielsa’s new contract will be no longer than a year.

Managing director Angus Kinnear has recently told Sky Sports that Bielsa is “very, very close” to signing a new deal and based on Radrizzani’s interview with the Associated Press, the Argentine’s deal will only run until the end of next season.

“We like to take it one year at a time,” Radrizzani said, as quoted by the Daily Mail.

“He is 65 years old, he is from Argentina, he is far away. His wife is often in Argentina, his family too. So we like to take it like this, one year at a time and continue this way. And so far it’s working well.”

Bielsa has never stuck around any of his clubs too long in the past.

Infamously, the Argentine quit his job at Lazio just two days after being officially named as the Serie A club’s manager.

He’s lastest a lot longer than two days at Elland Road, and seems as though he could give the club at least three full seasons – which is quite impressive for him.

Bielsa has a reputation for his journeyman manager career but he seems to have found his home at Leeds, with the club, the fans, the city and everyone associated making him feel welcome.

We hope that he can do as good in the Premier League as he did in the Championship.

A lot of eyes will be on Leeds and Bielsa next season and hopefully everyone can rise to the occasion.
