Radrizzani sends message to Brighton ahead of Leeds clash

Leeds United owner Andrea Radizzani has dubbed Brighton a “class act” after they wished Phil Hay a speedy recovery.

Earlier this week, the popular journalist, who covers Leeds for The Athletic, said that he would be stepping away from his work for medical reasons.

Ahead of Leeds’ trip to the AMEX this weekend, Brighton’s official Twitter account hailed Hay for his “superb” coverage on the Whites and wished him their best.

Leeds chief Radrizzani then responded by also reaching out to Hay and also to reply to Brighton’s tweet.

“Wish you to back soon Phil on time for next season at Elland Road. Class act by Brighton,” Radz tweeted via his personal account.

Get well soon, Phil

It goes without saying that we – and all other Leeds fans – will miss Hay and his coverage of Leeds United.

It should also go without saying that Brighton’s message to the former Yorkshire Evening Post journalist is a class one and Radrizzani was right to praise them for it.

We’re not sure what kind of game to expect at the AMEX on Saturday afternoon.

Brighton are basically safe with the Premier League’s bottom three all looking set to be relegated and Leeds’ mid-table status is all but secured too.

Of course we want to win and so do Brighton but not a lot is riding on this game when you look at it on the fixture list for this weekend.

Marcelo Bielsa won’t see it that way though.

There’s no doubting that he’s preparing for this game as extensively as he would a cup final, trying to find a way for Leeds to break through what has been quite a decent defence at times this season.

Ben White has been key to that defence and he’s set to return to Graham Potter’s side after serving a one-match ban.

Let’s see what he can do against his former club but let’s hope he doesn’t do as well as he did at Elland Road last season in the Championship.

In other Leeds United news, Hay shared a huge Rodrigo De Paul update in his final podcast before his break.
