Radrizzani reacts to talkSPORT post slamming Man United after ‘disgusting’ development
Leeds United fans reacted with disgust to the Project Big Picture proposal headed by Man United and Liverpool.
The proposal would grant money to the cash-stricken EFL but leave Premier League power in the hands of the elite.
The plans have also been criticised by the Department of Digital, Culture, Media and Sport and many journalists.
Henry Winter was one of the most vocal and said in an interview with talkSPORT, “Do we want Joel Glazer running English football? I don’t particularly want him running Manchester United…
“They’ll say to #AVFC & #LUFC that they don’t really count.”
Winter ended up by saying, “I find it absolutely disgusting.”
Leeds have yet to make an official statement but owner Andrea Radrizzani has made his position very clear after retweeting a talkSPORT post featuring the Winter interview and quotes.
Winter reflects true feelings in football
We weren’t too surprised to see the contents of Project Big Picture.
It just shows that the foreign owners of the elite clubs don’t care about British football, but just about feathering their own nests.
We’re also happy with the outpouring of criticism the proposal has attracted, from pretty much every corner of the football world and beyond.
There have been talks of a breakaway European league in the past but this would be even worse – concentrating the power in the Premier League to a handful of clubs in perpetuity.
The attraction of the Premier League is the open competition. The last thing the game needs is it being turned into a cartel with wealthy US owners pulling the strings.
Leeds worked incredibly hard to get back in the Premier League after 16 years out. They’ve already turned heads by losing narrowly to Liverpool and drawing with Man City. They could have won both games.
Man United have had a pretty awful start to the season and haven’t been Premier League contenders since Alex Ferguson left. Perhaps it’s no surprise that they want to grab power now before it’s too late.
Radrizzani has made his position very clear with this retweet and Winter reflects the views of all Leeds fans.
