QSI fight Andrea Radrizzani as fresh twist emerges in Leeds United chief Sampdoria rescue mission

Qatar Sports Investment have emerged as a contender for Andrea Radrizzani as the Leeds United owner looks to complete a takeover of Sampdoria, according to Football Italia.

French newspaper L’Equipe reported on Thursday 25 May, that Radrizzani had teamed up with QSI in a bid to save the financially troubled Serie A side.

However, contrary to reports, Football Italia now claim (25 May), that Nasser Al-Khelaifi’s investment fund are actually competing with the Leeds owner in a bid to save the Genoa-based club.

Ridiculous

Why does Radrizzani feel now is the right time to take the attention away from Leeds United? Their Premier League fate now hangs by a thread and a return to the Championship could be confirmed on Sunday evening.

Surely he would have his attention firmly fixed on the ongoings at Elland Road. Instead, he’s been picture on the Italian Riviera looking to tie up a deal for the financially-crippled club. He’s clearly trying to find a way out of West Yorkshire whilst still remaining present within European football.

For the Elland Road faithful, they will be hoping his attempt to buy Sampdoria fast-tracks the club’s takeover during the summer. Realistically, a return to the second tier is likely and Leeds need a structure in place to ensure an immediate return to the Premier League, much like Burnley managed last season.

However, anything is possible on the final day and the Whites will be hoping for help from Bournemouth and West Ham United, as they face off against Everton and Leicester City respectively.
