Pundit makes Javi Gracia admission ahead of Leeds United v Wolves

Tony Dorigo believes that Javi Gracia’s style of play at Leeds United is not something that the fans are used to seeing at Elland Road.

The Whites secured a 2-2 draw against Brighton over the weekend and now have Wolves coming up on 18 March before the international break.

Dorigo also feels that the run-in after that has tasty fixtures against Nottingham Forest and Crystal Palace.

He told the Yorkshire Evening Post, “For fans looking on, we’re not used to what Gracia had us doing, we’ve not seen it, in fact we’ve seen the exact opposite. We had an extremely high press under Marcelo Bielsa that was non-stop, flying in there to try and get the ball back.

“Under Jesse Marsch, it was a similar story. So this looked strange, it felt strange, no doubt, playing the waiting game. The fans were asking why we weren’t flying in. Just keeping our shape was so important, but even still they were good enough to play that long ball out to Kaoru Mitoma.

“We have some really important fixtures coming up. Wolves away is huge, then it’s Arsenal before gigantic games against Nottingham Forest and Palace.”

Win needed

Wolves may be 13th but they’re just as much in the relegation dog fight as Leeds are as only four points separate the two sides.

A win for Leeds in this one will see the deficit down to one and ensure that they get out of the relegation zone for the time being.

Wolves have scored the fewest goals of any Premier League team this season and given Gracia’s style of football, he can make it challenging for the hosts this weekend.

Leeds United

Leeds have plenty of attacking players to punish their opponents and it has the makings of a very good game – one that the visitors can win.

There have been encouraging signings from the past few games, even though they’ve not won all of them and that’s an indicator of Gracia’s plan working.

Leeds have a decent goal difference in comparison to the rest of the chasing pack and that can be important come the end of the season.
