Prutton warns Leeds ahead of ‘tough, tough’ Burnley clash
Former Leeds United man David Prutton has warned his former side about their ‘tough, tough fixture’ against Burnley this weekend.
The Whites welcome the Clarets to Elland Road on Sunday following their heavy loss at Old Trafford last weekend and Prutton doesn’t think his former side will have an easy time of it.
Speaking in the Yorkshire Evening Post, Prutton claimed that Burnley boss Sean Dyche should not be underestimated despite Sunday’s fixture looking easier on paper than Leeds’ last game against Manchester United.
He said, “For Leeds, Burnley now throws up a different set of circumstances but another tough Premier League football match.
“Burnley are a team who know exactly how to manoeuvre their way from trouble in the Premier League so let’s not underestimate what Sean Dyche can do with that bench of players.
“They had a sluggish start to the season but make no mistake, this a tough, tough fixture for Leeds.”
Burnley picked up an impressive win over Wolves in their last Premier League outing as they escaped the relegation zone.
The Clarets are still in the relegation fight though and a win over Leeds would be a timely reminder that the Whites could still be pulled into the thick of a survival scrap.
Burnley are four points behind Bielsa’s men with a game in hand as the two teams have picked up similar results this season which suggests that Dyche’s sides are no pushovers.
A win against Burnley will be expected by many Leeds fans and the Whites players will have the perfect chance to react following the disappointing defeat at Old Trafford.
A defeat could seriously damage morale in the Leeds camp which is why Prutton is urging his former side to be wary going into the game.
The Whites will have to work hard for a win against a well-organised side as they look to recover some league form as they approach the new year.
